- A festival program
- A map of La Jolla with a listing of local restaurants
- Directions to the shuttle stop location less than one mile from LJAWF
When will I set-up?
- Load-in commences on Friday, October 12, 2012, and each artist will be assigned a specific appointment time for load-in. Exact times for load-in are determined by booth placement and will be released in late August. The booth placement list and load-in instructions will be put online when they are available.
- All tents will be set up before load-in commences and traffic flow will be closely monitored and controlled.
- All vehicles must be off the street on Saturday and Sunday morning by 9AM.

- LJAWF 2012 will have an "Artists' Cove" area providing an exclusive rest and dining area for artists. Be ready to dine on homemade cookies prepared by families who attend the four public schools that benefit from this event.
- This area will have a "Cove Concierge" booth with LJAWF staff who can assist you with providing booth sitting, getting equipment, or other needs
Where will I park? How will I get to the festival?
Why do I have to rent a tent?
- LJAWF now includes a tent rental in the artist's fee. This decision was driven by two goals: improve artist load-in logistics and increase street appeal. The City of San Diego does not allow a street closure until after business hours. Providing tents that we will set up immediately after street closure facilitates a fast and efficient set up procedure for artists. Further, we feel that the high quality tents and signage will improve the street appeal of the festival, attracting larger crowds.
- LJAWF strives to host San Diego's finest artist event while maintaining what we believe to be the lowest artist participation fees for an event of this caliber in the area.
Can I embellish my booth?
- The LJAWF encourages artists' creativity in their booths. However, please note that extended signs, tables, flags, umbrellas, chairs or other items will NOT be allowed beyond your designated tent space due to fire lane regulations.
What is the Artists' Cove?
- LJAWF designates the Artists' Cove area as an exclusive space in the festival for artists. It is here that a "Cove Concierge" booth will be set up manned by LJAWF personnel to respond to artists' requests for booth sitters, equipment needs, or anything else.
- Artists will have access to the Cove area to check-in, ask questions, and rest away from the crowds.
Do you provide overnight security?
- Artists are responsible for the security of their belongings at all times.
- The festival provides 24-hour roving security the weekend of the festival
What are the fees associated with participating?

How can I increase my chances of being accepted?
There are a few guidelines for increasing your chances of acceptance.
- Articulate clearly in your artist statement to describe your methods, materials, and inspiration.
- Ensure that your artwork shows well in the images: clarity and detail are more important than mood lighting.
- Present a booth image that shows clearly how you arrange and organize your work in an outdoor festival. The jurors like to see the scale of your work and continuity of style.
How can I donate a piece of my artwork to your silent auction?
A donation form will be posted online and emailed to you.
Booth Information
In the interest of presenting a professional, aesthetically pleasing environment, all Artists must display their work in the tents which the Festival acquires from an outside vendor.
Each tent is 10’ x 10’. A single tent may not be shared, but two Artists may share a double or triple booth if they exhibit in 2-D and 3-D mediums (For example: Paintings on the walls and Sculpture on pedestals or tables).
Booth assignments are at the discretion of the Festival. They are generally made in the order in which the booth fees have been received, but it is essential to “balance” the show by keeping as much distance as possible from each Artist in a given media.
Equipment Rental Information
Your equipment requests (e.g., table, chair, walls, electricity) will be placed with the vendor after you submit payment for them. Please note that rentals will only be requested per your payments, not based on your online survey. So please ensure that you pay for the rentals you require.
Payment
The deadline for payment is July 31, 2012. The payments are separated between the booths and rentals. You may also pay your fees with a check and mail it to the following address:

Load-In Assignments
After acceptance, within the payment process, Artists are offered the opportunity to load in on Friday evening or early Saturday morning.
